People Behind the Numbers

Real expertise built over years of working with Australian businesses facing budget challenges.

We're not consultants who show up with frameworks and leave. We're analysts who've spent careers watching economic shifts affect real operations. That changes how we approach your budget patterns.

Lennox Threlfall

Lead Budget Analyst

Started tracking business expenses in 2011 when spreadsheets were still considered advanced tools. Spent most of my early career at mid-sized manufacturers around Melbourne watching how seasonal patterns affected cash flow.

These days I focus on helping businesses spot the trends they're too close to see themselves. You know how you can stare at your own numbers for hours and miss the obvious? That's where an outside perspective helps.

Work with clients across retail, services, and light manufacturing. Mostly in the ACT and NSW regions, though we've helped operations in Perth and Brisbane too.

What We Actually Do

Three areas where businesses typically need the most support with budget analysis.

Pattern Recognition

Finding the recurring expenses that don't match up with your revenue cycles. Sometimes it's vendor timing, sometimes it's inventory builds. Often it's simpler than you'd think.

Variance Analysis

Explaining why your actuals differ from your forecasts in ways that help you adjust going forward. Not just pointing out the gaps, but connecting them to operational decisions.

Scenario Planning

Building realistic models for different business conditions. What happens if your main contract renews at 80% instead of 100%? What if you need to hire earlier than planned?

How We Work With Clients

Most engagements start with three to six months of historical data. We're looking for patterns, but also for the story behind your numbers.

Then we build a framework that makes sense for your operation. Not some off-the-shelf template.

1

Data Review

We go through your existing budgets and actuals. Usually takes two weeks to get a clear picture of your patterns.

2

Framework Setup

Build tracking systems that match how your business actually operates. Nothing generic here.

3

Ongoing Analysis

Monthly or quarterly reviews depending on what makes sense. We adjust as your business changes.
